The New York Jets selected Mekhi Becton with the No. 11 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Ahead of the 2020 NFL season, Becton revealed his two goals for his rookie season with New York.

“I want to start as a rookie and I want to make the playoffs,” Becton said, via Chris Iseman of NorthJersey.com.

Seeing that he was taken with the No. 11 pick, Becton should have a good chance of starting for the Jets in 2020. Even though New York signed George Fant in free agency, Becton seems to be the team's long-term plan at left tackle.

Regardless of where he plays, the Louisville product is more than likely going to have a starting role as a rookie. However, his goal to make the playoffs with the Jets in 2020 seems to be a tougher task than merely starting.

The Jets haven't made the postseason since 2010 when Mark Sanchez was the team's starting quarterback. Back in 2010, New York suffered back-to-back losses in the AFC Championship Round.

Fast forward to now and Sam Darnold is New York's hopeful franchise quarterback. And while Tom Brady is no longer on the New England Patriots to reign over the AFC East, the Buffalo Bills are a vastly better team than the Jets.

Not to mention, the Miami Dolphins, with Tua Tagovailoa under center, are probably tougher to beat than they were a year ago. Even without Brady, there's no guarantee that the Jets are able to take down the Patriots yet.

Without a doubt, Becton has some lofty expectations for himself and his new team. While Becton wants to make the playoffs in his first season in the NFL, it might be a bit longer before he gets a chance to experience the postseason atmosphere.
