The New York Jets were considered to be one of the top potential destinations for running back Le'Veon Bell in free agency this offseason, but it looks like Bell won't be playing for Gang Green in 2019 after all.
According to NFL Draft analyst Tony Pauline, the Jets don't appear to have all that much interest in Bell and are instead looking at signing second-tier running backs.
New York has a whopping $102.1 million in cap space, so it definitely has the financial wherewithal to absorb Bell, but with Bell looking for a massive deal, the Jets may not want to put too much money into one area.
Bell is aiming to land a contract in which he makes $17 million annually and $45 million guaranteed, which may be too rich for New York's blood, even if the Jets can sign him to a deal such as that and still have plenty of money to spend elsewhere.

The 27-year-old, who sat out the entire 2018 campaign due to a contract dispute with the Pittsburgh Steelers, amassed 1,541 touches between 2013 and 2017, the second-most of any player during that span.
Given the fact that halfbacks typically have short shelf lives and that Bell has been out of football for over a year, the three-time Pro Bowler may very well not end up getting the huge contract for which he is hoping.
The last time we saw Bell, he rushed for 1,291 yards and nine touchdowns while also hauling in 85 receptions for 655 yards and two scores in 2017.
