New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold has not had much help from his supporting cast so far in the 2020 NFL season. In the first half of the Jets' Thursday Night Football game against the Denver Broncos in Week 4, Darnold decided to take matters into his own hands.

The third-year quarterback got the Jets on the scoreboard with an impressive 46-yard touchdown run.

According to Reuben Frank of NBC Sports, it is a longest touchdown run by a Jets quarterback in team history.

Although Sam Darnold has never been touted as a dual-threat quarterback since entering the league, it is safe to say that it would not wise to overlook his mobility in and out of the pocket. Unfortunately, it just goes to show what measures he will likely have to go through in order to carry this offense the rest of the way.

Darnold has caught plenty of flak for New York's disappointing 0-3 start to the 2020 campaign. However, it is evident that the lack of Pro Bowl-caliber talent has stunted his development under center. Not to mention, the injury-riddled start that saw both of his tackles in Mekhi Becton and George Fant along with his top two options in the receiving corps in Jamison Crowder and Breshad Perriman miss time.

Fortunately, plays like these are indicative of the potential Sam Darnold has displayed throughout his career. While they may come too few and far in between as most would like, it could be time to start shifting the blame for the Jets' lack of success on the powers that be.
