The New York Jets secondary is shorthanded and could be for a while with coach Adam Gase announcing that Trumaine Johnson is week-to-week with a hamstring injury. According to Gase, Johnson did undergo an MRI to make sure it wasn't more severe.
CB Trumaine Johnson (hamstring) had an MRI. He’s week to week, per Gase. “It’s going to be time,” Gase said. Translation: Don’t expect to see him in the preseason. #Jets

Gase also said it all depends on how his hamstring responds to treatment that will decide how long he will miss because of it.

With Trumaine Johnson out, the top three cornerbacks are shaky at best. Darryl Roberts, Brian Poole, and undrafted rookie Kyron Brown are currently the top three on the depth chart.
Gase said the team is going to try to continue to rotate players and he knows that young guys are going to have to step up.
“Right now, we'll just keep rotating guys in there,” Gase said. “We're just going to keep competing. That's what we have to do… Some young guys are going to have to step up. They're going to have to play well.”
The hope is that Johnson will be ready when the season kicks off, but if he isn't it could be a long couple of weeks for the secondary, and that is assuming they don't suffer any more injuries.
