The Cleveland Division of Police has decided to launch an internal investigation into the handling of the Kareem Hunt incident that took place earlier this year.

Hunt, who was recently released by the Kansas City Chiefs, was seen kicking and shoving a woman at a Cleveland hotel in a video released by TMZ last week.

No charges were filed following the incident, which occurred back in February.

However, it seems that Cleveland police are interested in learning more about the fallout from the whole situation, which reportedly included a copy of the police report being shared with an NFL representative through unofficial channels.

Here's the official statement released by the department, courtesy of TMZ Sports:

“Following an internal review, it has been determined that in February 2018 a member of the Cleveland Division of Police provided a copy of the police report involving the February 10, 2018 assault incident at The 9 to a representative from the National Football League,” the PD said.

“The report did not go through the official public records request process.”

Hunt cleared waivers earlier in the week and is still on the Commissioner's Exempt List, which means that he is unable to play or attend games until being removed from the list.

He had 181 carries for 824 yards and seven touchdowns this season while racking up 26 receptions for 378 yards and seven scores.

But it's clear that there are plenty of unknowns surrounding Hunt's future in the league after a situation of this magnitude.
