The Dallas Mavericks won't be heading back to the postseason in 2018-19 while the NBA playing career of legendary forward Dirk Nowitzki will be coming to an end this week. However, the Mavs will continue to celebrate the German-born big man until his departure from the game becomes official in a few days.

The Mavs' most recent Dirk-related celebration came on Sunday afternoon against the Memphis Grizzlies, as Nowitzki became just the fifth player in NBA history to record 10,000 career defensive rebounds.

Dirk Nowitzki joins the likes of Kevin Garnett, Karl Malone, Tim Duncan and Robert Parish as the only players to ever achieve the landmark feat. Garnett leads the said exclusive club with 11,453 defensive rebounds, while Malone and Duncan comes in at second and third with 11,406 and 11,232 respectively.

It was undoubtedly a momentous achievement for Dirk, especially this year when it's clear he hasn't much left in the tank. It's also another achievement to his resume after also passing Wilt Chamberlain for sixth place on the all-time scoring list last month.

The Mavs will play at home one last time on Tuesday against the Phoenix Suns, and surely, it will be a memorable one for Nowitzki and the City of Dallas.
