Cam Newton is easily the biggest name among the NFL free agents available this offseason. However, the teams that need a quarterback are not rushing to his front door due to the big question mark on his back. Does he still have years in him as a top gunslinger?

One AFC coach thinks that Newton still has what it takes to lead a team to a Super Bowl. Bleacher Report's Mike Freeman contacted one NFL assistant head coach and asked him for his assessment of the former Carolina Panthers star. While considering the Miami Dolphins' situation, the assistant talked about what Newton could bring to the table for the Dolphins and the rest of the teams interested in acquiring his services.

“They'll probably pick [Tagovailoa], and that would be a smart choice, but they should give strong consideration to Newton. He still has three or four really good years left.”

It's understandable why they would be hesitant in picking up Cam Newton. His 2018 was a decent season where he notched 3395 passing yards and 24 touchdowns. The following year saw him get sidelined for the majority of the season. He only played two games for 572 yards and zero touchdowns. He was a non-factor for the Panthers last season.

The first thing NFL teams will ask from him is his current health. If they can get an assurance from his camp that he's fit and ready to play seventeen games of grueling football, then it wouldn't be weird to see him get a long-term contract with a team that badly needs his services.

Right now, Newton's biggest opponent is himself. He has to assure teams that his body wouldn't break down in the middle of the season while leading his team to the playoffs. If he can assure that, then team will be begging for his signature right there and then.
