On Tuesday, this year's deadline for NFL teams to franchise-tag players came and went with a few surprises popping up along the way. While several notable players were indeed tagged, there were a handful of significant omissions as well, with the 2019 deadline now officially a thing of the past.

As a result, the following players will formally become free agents on Wednesday, which obviously means they can sign with any team around the league this offseason.

Of course, though it comes as absolutely no surprise, the most notable name on the aforementioned list is former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell. With the New York Jets remaining at the forefront of the Bell-related discussions ahead of free agency, there are certainly more than a few teams which could use his services. The Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, and Indianapolis Colts all remain possible landing spots for Bell even with the Jets heavily in the mix with Wednesday looming.

Another thing that also became quite evident on Tuesday afternoon was that this year's safety market will be very deep, to say the least. Tyrann Mathieu, Landon Collins, Eric Weddle, and Earl Thomas, just to name a few, will all be available on the free-agent market this offseason. Even though last year's free-agent class of safeties had a hard time finding homes throughout the offseason, this year will almost surely be different due to the depth at hand.

Stay tuned, NFL fans…
