A last-minute arrangement was made as veteran sportscaster Kenny Albert won't be calling Sunday's match featuring the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears. The 52-year old has been away from the United States for the past month due to his other commitment calling NHL playoff games for NBC in Edmonton, Canada.

The NFL has made a rule that anyone coming from a foreign country has to quarantine for two weeks. Albert's debut along with Fox rookie Jon Vilma will be postponed as 77-year-old Dick Stockton is expected to slot in the role for the time being. Stockton will also travel to Detroit all the way from his home in Arizona.

Canada has a higher COVID-19 tally as compared to the United States and Albert had been tested multiple times per week there. Still, the NFL is staying firm with its set protocols. Albert’s spot will be in limbo until he completes his two-week quarantine. All NFL play-by-play callers and analysts are to be tested on-site before calling the games, regardless of travel history.

Kenny Albert is the son of legendary basketball commentator Marv Albert. He also had stints in other professional leagues such as the NBA, NFL, NHL, and the MLB. He first started out his career calling a minor league ice hockey team with the Baltimore Skipjacks back in 1990. He then took his talents to call the Washington Capitals of the NHL in 1992 until 1995. He also had stints covering the Winter and Summer Olympics, Sugar Bowl, and the games of the New York Knicks, New York Rangers, and the Washington Football Team.

Hopefully, football fans will be able to hear a familiar voice in Kenny Albert as he looks to call NFL games in the coming weeks of the 2020 season.
