The league has finally released its schedule for the 2020 NFL season. Regardless, commissioner Roger Goodell has seemingly acknowledged that not everything is set in stone at the moment.

“We will be prepared to make adjustments as necessary, as we have during this off-season in safely and efficiently conducting key activities such as free agency, the virtual off-season program, and the 2020 NFL draft.”
There has been plenty of speculation regarding whether or not the timeline of the 2020 campaign will be delayed. Although Goodell has since been adamant about proceeding with the initial schedule, it remains to be seen if the local governments for every team will allow it to come to fruition.
The league has had to take unprecedented action this offseason due to the outbreak. Fortunately, this did not hinder teams from bringing in free agents they were interested in while the 2020 NFL Draft successfully navigated through its first virtual draft. Regardless, the biggest challenge still lies ahead in getting both players and teams prepared for the upcoming season.
While such precautions still have yet to be revealed, rumors indicate that playing in empty stadiums without fans could very well be a starting point. For now, the NFL appears to be proceeding with business as usual until they are absolutely forced to make some changes to the schedule.
