In his brief time with the Washington Redskins, former Pro Bowl running back Adrian Peterson has made a strong impression on the franchise that has helped him earn the starting job outright to begin the 2018 campaign

Peterson is more than prepared for his first official action with the Redskins voicing that he is ready to take on any role that the team will give him on Sunday afternoon against the Arizona Cardinals, according to John Keim of ESPN.

When coaches ask him how many carries he wants, Peterson said he tells them, “I’m like, how many times do you want? You want 30? You want 15? You want 40? Whatever it takes. … I’m excited, man. It’s a new journey for me. It’s the first time in a long time that I’ve had a group of guys in front of me that are good at blocking. I’m very excited about that. I’ve been looking forward to that for two to three years.”

Peterson has a chance in front of him to reignite his NFL career with Washington as he will be playing in a prominent role in the offensive game plan. Head coach Jay Gruden has indicated that the team wants to use him heavily, but that could be dictated by the flow of the game as he has proven to be a primary an asset in the running game with his limited action as a receiver out of the backfield.

The confidence in Peterson from the Redskins has stemmed from his strong showing in the limited action in the preseason as he showed some of the physical explosiveness and speed that helped put together the illustrious career. He will have the opportunity to build on that with the coaching staff all in making him a huge part of their offensive game plan despite being with the team for just a couple of weeks.

The 33-year-old has in front of him a situation where he can dictate this next chapter of his career beginning with his performance on Sunday afternoon.
