The Washington Redskins did not practice on Monday, but the team released an injury report. The report is an estimation to alert the NFL of their injuries before Thursday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings. Running back Adrian Peterson, as expected, did not “practice.”
Peterson suffered an ankle injury in the third quarter of Sunday's 9-0 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He did so while fumbling the ball on the rain-soaked field of FedEx Field. He noted, after the game, that the fumble stemmed from an immediate reaction to the pain.
“It came from pain. That little moment of ‘ugh’ allowed the ball to come out, and for me that’s just not acceptable,” said Peterson on Sunday via Kareem Copeland of The Washington Post. “I’ll be beating myself up about this one all night.”
Peterson finished the game with 20 carries for 81 yards. He was not pulled out after suffering the injury.
Peterson had an MRI on his ankle on Monday, according to Les Carpenter of The Washington Post. The reports on the matter are not yet known, and likely will not be released until Tuesday. Considering that Washington plays on Thursday, he is not likely to play in Week 7.
For the season, Peterson has recorded 83 rush attempts for 307 yards and a touchdown. The bulk of his production has come with Callahan as the coach, as he's rushed for 199 yards on 43 attempts under the interim coach. Callahan emphasized using him as a bell-cow back immediately after the firing of Jay Gruden.
