Washington Redskins left tackle Trent Williams did not show up to practice on Wednesday which means he is officially out of the teams Week 1 game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.
This was the expectation but now official: #Redskins LT Trent Williams did not show up at the team facility today to practice with his team. His holdout continues into the regular season and he won’t play Sunday — at least.

This isn't a shock to anyone and would have been more of a surprise if he did show up to practice today so he could play this weekend.
Article Continues BelowMost signs point toward this extending for a long period of time, but his former teammate DeAngelo Hall said on the Hail to the Podcast on the Athletic, that he could actually be returning sooner than later. Hall said there is a chance that Williams could return to the team next week.
“My understanding is that he actually could even come back next week, which I know sounds crazy considering this has been a hardline holdout,” Rapoport said. “Not this week. It sounds like this week, that ship has sailed. But there is a possibility from what I understand that he could come back next week. Which would mean the Redskins, who have rebuffed all trade talk (and) really everything this entire offseason, may actually get their wish and get their franchise left tackle to show up and play.”
The Redskins offensive line is a huge weakness this year, and getting Williams back would be a considerable boost. It's unclear what the chances are that he does come back in the next couple of weeks, but one thing is for sure; he won't be on the field protecting Case Keenum on Sunday.
