History repeated itself Monday night as Washington Redskins quarterback Mark Sanchez had another “Butt Fumble” moment for his new team.
Sanchez took over the injured Colt McCoy in the first quarter to make his Redskins debut. But it did not take long for him to have a memorable moment with the team.
In a tweet by NFL Memes they stated the Butt Fumble has “come full circle.”

It can be seen that Philadelphia Eagles defenders charged towards a rushing Sanchez. When they got to him he fumbled the ball, but lucky for him he pressed the ball to his butt to avoid losing possession of it.
Butt Fumble occurred in a Thanksgiving Day matchup between the New York Jets and the New England Patriots in 2012. Sanchez, who then played for the Jets, called for a play designed to handoff the ball to the fullback. But he made a mistake by turning left and there was no one there to receive the handoff.
Sanchez desperately tried to save the broken play and rushed the ball. Unlucky for him he collided with the rear end of guard Brandon Moore. He fell to the ground and fumbled the ball.
Patriots safety Steve Gregory picked up the ball and ran untouched into the end-zone for a touchdown.
The Butt Fumble has since been associated with Sanchez. This is probably the one play that defined his career as every NFL fan would remember that every time his name is mentioned.
Now with his sixth team in the league, he reminded everybody of the play once again.
