On Sunday against the Green Bay Packers at Bank of American Stadium, Carolina Panthers defensive end and future Hall of Famer Julius Peppers made NFL history against his former team.
According to a tweet posted this afternoon by the NFL's official Twitter account earlier, Peppers became only the third player in NFL history over the age of 37 to record over 10 sacks in a season since the statistic became official in 1982.

The record-breaking sack came during the fourth quarter on a Packers on a fourth-and-14 deep in Panthers territory when Peppers and teammate Mario Addison sacked Packers superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers for a 10-yard loss. With 10 sacks on the year, Peppers has now had 10 seasons with at least 10 sacks.
Article Continues BelowAs a team, the Panthers were able to sack Rodgers three times on the day and forced four Packers turnovers on defense. Rodgers, who did not have a three-interception game since the 2009 season, was picked off three times in his first game back from a broken collarbone injury.
This was a huge victory for Peppers and the Panthers in terms of their hunt for a spot in the NFC playoffs. The Packers, on the other hand, would need a miracle at this point in order to sneak into the playoffs after their 31-24 loss in Carolina.
For Peppers, while he has received a large fair of praise during his career, this now likely solidifies him as an all-time great. There aren't many players in the history of the NFL who share statistical anomalies with Bruce Smith and Kevin Greene.
