The New England Patriots made a move this week to add another weapon to Tom Brady's arsenal. The storied NFL franchise acquired star wide receiver Josh Gordon in a deal with the Cleveland Browns.
Although Gordon is now with the team following the trade, the 27-year-old will not play against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Patriots hope Gordon can be the downfield threat the team has been missing. New England has some solid threats in the passing game with superstar tight end Rob Gronkowski, up-and-coming wideout Chris Hogan, and veteran Julian Edelman, but there's no homerun hitter like they had with Randy Moss a few years ago.

Detroit lost their first two games of the season and will have their hands full against a Brady-led team looking to avenge their loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. New England showed some glaring weaknesses in the AFC Championship rematch, but they tend to bounce back strong in these situations.
As expected, even without Gordon in the lineup, New England is favored to win this matchup against Matthew Stafford's squad. The Patriots are the favorites with -6.5 point spread, according to BetOnline.ag. If the first two games of the season for both teams are any indication, Bill Belichick and company should make easy work of the Lions on the road.
