After San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback and former New England Patriots backup Jimmy Garoppolo signed a massive contract on Thursday to remain with the Niners, ex-teammate Julian Edelman had a hilarious reaction to Garoppolo's deal on his Twitter account.
@JimmyG_10 yo bubs, about the 20 dollars you owe me…. I mean …. congrats jimbo slice.

Edelman, who was Jimmy G's teammate for three and a half seasons in New England on two championship-winning teams, missed the entire 2017 season due to a torn ACL.
Sharing is caring for the 26-year-old Garoppolo, who now has quite a lot of dough. On Thursday afternoon, Garoppolo signed the richest contract in NFL history on an average annual basis of a whopping $27.5 million per year over the next five seasons.
This was a deal in the works for a while, which was clear in early January when 49ers general manager John Lynch made Garoppolo the team's No. 1 priority for the offseason.
Via an article by Chris Biderman of Niners Wire:
“We want Jimmy to be a Niner for a long, long time,” Lynch said. “That process is going to take place here. We're eager to get that done, to have the opportunity. You have our assurances, and the fans do, that we'd like nothing more than to make him a Niner for a long, long time.”
The previous record was set in September when the Detroit Lions signed quarterback Matthew Stafford to a five-year deal worth $135 million, which is $27 million per year.
Garoppolo, who has only started seven games in his four-year NFL career, won his first five starts down the stretch for the Niners to turn their season around and provide optimism for the future. In all, Garoppolo is 7-0 as a starter with a 68.1 completion percentage, 2,038 passing yards, 10 touchdown passes, and only five interceptions.
