New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is a busy man with a lot going on on a daily basis. However, he surprisingly made some time out of his hectic schedule to join Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin in visiting rapper Meek Mill in prison on Tuesday.
According to NBC Philadelphia’s Brian McCrone, Kraft and Rubin met with Mill, whose real name is Robert Rihmeek Williams, at the State Correctional Institute (SCI) in Chester City to offer words of encouragement.
Mill is serving 2-4 years in prison after he was sentenced in November 2017 for violating his probation.

“Amazing young man. I know how I’d feel if I was in the situation he is,” Kraft said outside the prison. “Every time I see him, I just come away more impressed. He’s very intelligent. And makes it clear to me we have to do something with criminal justice reform. … This guy's a great guy. (He) shouldn't be here.”
Meek Mill’s case is currently being reviewed by the state’s Supreme Court. Attorneys representing Mill have filed several motions to release the rapper from prison on the grounds of the judge hearing his case having a grudge against him.
Kraft’s visit obviously won’t do anything to impact those proceedings. However, it does give some insight into his political beliefs after his public support of this hot-button criminal justice reform issue. His visit should also put him in a more positive light with some of his Patriots players, who likely share Kraft’s support for Mill.
