In the last few months, Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver Alshon Jeffrey has been steadily recovering from offseason shoulder surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff.

However, it has put his status for the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons on a bit of the uncertain side of things due to his recovery taking a bit longer than expected. According to Dave Spadaro of Philly Magazine, head coach Doug Pederson has voiced that Jeffrey has been a steady path to full recovery and has been catching balls to help him in his rehab.

The Eagles had originally hoped that the decision to undergo surgery earlier in the offseason could put him on track to be ready in time for Week 1 action, but it appears that he still has somewhat of a ways to go to get to that point where he's physically ready. It is encouraging that he has been able to catch balls at this point, but he still has to be able to move around without any limitations along with being physically cleared by the team's medical staff to remove him from the physically unable to perform list.

Until then, he will continue to work toward getting completely healed from the injury that he played through the entire 2017 season dealing with. Philadelphia is counting on Jeffrey to be a huge piece of the offensive puzzle once again this upcoming season as he has shown to be a huge target in the red zone while being one of their most reliable wide receivers. He proved that in the playoffs recording 12 catches for 219 receiving yards with three touchdowns in the three games played.

These next couple of weeks will be huge in determining what his status will be for the season opener as he works his way back from major surgery.
