The Philadelphia Eagles went through the season opener without the services of Pro Bowl quarterback Carson Wentz as he continues to cover from a torn ACL and LCL that put Nick Foles in action to help push the team to an 18-12 win on Thursday night over the Atlanta Falcons.
Prior to the game, head coach Doug Pederson wouldn't touch on reports that Wentz could be out a few more weeks that would push his return to October, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

In the last several days, there have been several more details to emerge about the situation that has built the notion that Wentz could be out of the lineup longer than what was being anticipated. The Eagles are taking the precautionary approach with their star quarterback in order to bring him back when he is physically ready to give it a go this season instead of putting him in too early where he could suffer a setback.
There doesn't appear to be any concern from the team about the matter, but rather just bringing Wentz along for what's best for his long-term future. The Eagles want to ensure he can be their franchise quarterback for the next decade, which means taking this approach would be the proper plan of action.
Meanwhile, it will mean more playing time for Foles this season with Wentz still on the mend. The 30-year-old struggled a bit on Thursday night but did enough to help push the team to a win against a highly formidable opponent. It is an ongoing situation that the Eagles will continue to monitor closely moving forward.
