When the Philadelphia Eagles acquired wide receiver Golden Tate in a midseason trade with the Detroit Lions, they expected a lot more from him than what they actually got during his eight regular-season games as an Eagle.

However, on Sunday night against the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, Tate made up for his lack of production throughout the year, catching the game-winning touchdown pass to send the Eagles on to the Divisional Round.

Afterward, Tate—who has Super Bowl experience from his days with the Seattle Seahawks—was happy he was chosen to make the crucial catch:

“It is pretty incredible, what happened,” Tate told Peter King of Football Morning in America. “They put our future in my hands. There is no better feeling for me.”

Tate then described the winning play in detail:

“When I broke off the line, I felt good about winning the matchup, and I got between [McManis] and Nick, ran the best possible route I knew how, and Nick just dropped a dime,” Tate said. “He put in a spot where only I could catch it. That says a lot about the coach, the offensive coordinator, the quarterback, showing faith in me on what could have been our last play. For them to put our season on me is pretty great.”

Overall this season between 15 games with the Lions and Eagles, Tate hauled in 74 receptions for 795 yards and four touchdowns, but with Philadelphia, he caught only 30 passes for 278 yards and a score.
