The Philadelphia Eagles had arguably the best outcome out of the first night of the 2022 NFL Draft. However, it didn't come without a lot of bargaining and behind-the-scenes work.

First, Philadelphia traded its 15th pick and three later picks to the Houston Texans. In exchange, the Eagles received the 13th overall pick and used it to draft Jordan Davis. The defensive tackle out of Georgia is destined to be a great next-man-up for veteran Fletcher Cox.

Meanwhile, Howie Roseman was working behind the scenes to finish up a blockbuster trade with the Tennessee Titans. The Eagles secured wide receiver AJ Brown in exchange for their remaining first-round pick (18th overall) and the 101st pick.

How did the GM get it all done? He spoke to the media late Thursday night and dissected the process.

The Eagles tweeted a clip of Roseman's media appearance.

“The trade was contingent on us getting an extension, so, something we were working on during the course of the draft. We were just kind of trying to balance finishing that and if we didn't finish that making sure we also got the right players. But, it didn't matter the receivers on the board for us,” he said.

Roseman continued, saying that the Eagles were interested in drafting him back in 2019. “We had a lot of love for AJ Brown in that draft,” he said. While Philadelphia wasn't able to pick him up in the 2019 NFL Draft, Roseman made it work during the 2022 NFL Draft.
