Joe Flacco was waived by the Denver Broncos last month, and the veteran quarterback is still looking for a new home, maybe with the Philadelphia Eagles.
During an interview with Jeff Skversky of 6 ABC in Philadelphia, Flacco talked about the possibility of joining the Eagles in free agency:
“I live right in the heart of Eagles country. I grew up with it,” said Flacco, who grew up in southern New Jersey. “All my friends, that's what they are. They live and die with the Eagles. There would definitely be a lot of very cool things about that. You never know what the future holds.”
But is it a realistic possibility?
Philadelphia re-signed backup quarterback Nate Sudfeld early on in free agency, so right now, Sudfeld is the next man up in case of injury to Carson Wentz.
Let's remember that Wentz has a rather extensive injury history. He tore his ACL in 2017, and in 2018, he was limited to just 11 games due to a back injury. He did manage to play all 16 regular-season games this past year, but he was then knocked out of Philly's Wild Card Round playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks as a result of a concussion.

Regardless, Philadelphia seems to trust him, so the idea of Flacco returning home is probably more of a fantasy than anything else.
Flacco made eight starts for the Broncos in 2019 before bowing out with a neck injury. Do the Eagles want to risk this, even as a backup?
