Since helping lead the Philadelphia Eagles to their first Super Bowl win, Nick Foles' future with the franchise has become a prominent topic of discussion.
Foles once again addressed the matter during a recent interview on the Ellen DeGeneres Show voicing little concern for how things will pan out over the offseason. (h/t Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk)
“All that stuff will take care of itself,” Foles said on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. “We’ll see what happens with my career.”
The 29-year-old has one more year left on his two-year, $11 million deal with the Eagles. However, his performance in the playoffs on through to earn the Super Bowl MVP award has significantly risen his stock. Foles could become one of the most highly sought out players in the league for teams looking to resolve their respective quarterback situation.
Philadelphia will likely take a listen to the offers, but the possibility of moving him could be slim at this point because of the uncertainty surrounding Carson Wentz's recovery from a torn ACL and LCL. Wentz has been progressing through his rehab, but there is no guarantee that he will be back by the start of next season.
In essence, Foles provides the franchise with stability at the position regardless of what happens with Wentz. The Eagles also have comfort with him under center for any amount of time given that he proved that he could lead them to the Super Bowl. There will be several teams such as the Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, and New York Jets that voice their interest in acquiring him.
However, unless any of these teams are willing to give a lucrative offer, Foles will remain in Philadelphia. He has already voiced comfort with the idea of going back to being the backup to Wentz once he returns to the field. With the start of the offseason on the horizon, this entire situation will indeed sort itself out in the coming weeks.
