The Philadelphia Eagles have had a notable absentee from practice in Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz for three straight days due to dealing with an undisclosed injury.

However, Ertz has finally returned to the practice field on Tuesday morning participating in drills, according to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

This should erase any level of concern directed at the franchise regarding the health of Ertz as he's back in the fold ahead of the first preseason game on Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 27-year-old will likely not see the field for the preseason opener as rookie Dallas Goedert will receive plenty of playing time to showcase what he could bring to the team as probably the primary backup at the tight end position. The Eagles will likely take the precautionary route with the situation to avoid his injury from lingering on in any fashion during the preseason.

Ertz is once again expected to play a huge role in the passing game once again as he has established himself as one of the best players in the league at his spot. He is coming off yet another highly productive campaign in 2017 where he recorded 74 catches along with career bests with 824 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns. He was also a major factor in the Eagles' push to the Super Bowl recording 18 catches on 21 targets for 192 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Ertz had his biggest performance in Super Bowl 52 helping lift Philadelphia over the New England Patriots by hauling in seven on nine targets for 67 yards and a touchdown reception that proved to be the game winner. He has securely become the security blanket in the passing game for both quarterbacks Carson Wentz and Nick Foles that should continue to see him add another productive campaign in 2018.
