The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly preparing to sign running back Boston Scott off the New Orleans Saints' practice squad.
Corey Clement went down with a knee injury in the 29-23 overtime loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, and with the severity of the injury unknown at this point, it's clear that the Eagles want to add a little more depth at the position.
Scott was drafted by the Saints in the sixth round of this year's NFL draft, but he waived prior to the start of the season before rejoining the team's practice squad.
And now it looks like he'll be heading to Philly, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

It seems unlikely that Scott will be expected to play a big role, but it never hurts to have depth at an important position like running back when you're trying to make a run at a playoff spot.

And the schedule the rest of the way isn't exactly easy. Philly will head to Los Angeles this weekend for a showdown with that should be an angry Rams squad, and then the Eagles return home for a Week 16 game against the AFC South-leading Houston Texans.
Luckily, a Week 17 game in Washington may not be too difficult given the Redskins' injury situation right now.
But there's no doubt that getting back to the postseason is going to require a huge effort for an Eagles team that is trying to defend its Super Bowl crown.
