Since suffering a torn ACL and LCL back in mid-December, Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback Carson Wentz has been on a steady recovery from the injury with eyes on making a return by the season opener for the 2018 campaign.

Wentz has made more progress in the last few weeks toward reaching that goal. According to Evan Macy of The Philly Voice, Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz aired his confidence about his teammates continued recovery.

“Nothing surprises me with that guy,” Ertz said last week. “His work ethic is second to none, he's been grinding since he had surgery, he's going to attack it like he does anything else. … You see the way he works in the work room. There are times we are on the field and he's covered in sweat from head to toe working his butt off in there.”

Beyond the optimism voiced by his teammates and coaches, Wentz has only made steps in the right direction with his recovery as he hasn't experienced any setbacks along the way. He has been able to take the field in some capacity up to this point, which is an aspect that should increase over the next several weeks.

There has yet to be any timetable put in place for Wentz to make his return, but it is continuing to hedge toward his desired timeline. The Eagles haven't pressed the Pro Bowler to get back on the field before he is physically ready to do so given the type of injury he suffered. The team also has the comfort of having Nick Foles readily available to be a spot starter once again if Wentz is forced to miss any games.

The utter confidence that the team has voiced concerning his recovery is an encouraging sign of where he's at physically at this point in the offseason. This is something that the Eagles will maintain a close eye on over the next couple of months leading up to the start of the 2018 season.
