The Philadelphia Eagles have a legitimate shot at reaching the postseason in 2020-21 as only the rival Dallas Cowboys pose any sort of threat in the NFC East division this time around. Similarly to last season, both the New York Giants and Washington Redskins will continue to rebuild with the aforementioned Cowboys slated to serve as a potentially dangerous franchise thanks to the team's slew of offensive weapons. Unfortunately, though, the Eagles' schedule does not do the heralded NFC East franchise any favors as it includes matchups against the very dangerous NFC West and hard-nosed AFC North divisions.

If the Eagles can steal a few wins along the way with the Cowboys faltering at some point, Philadelphia could string together a successful campaign in 2020-21. However, the key word in that sentence is definitely “if.”

Week 1: Washington Redskins (A)

The Philadelphia Eagles must absolutely capitalize on all of the winnable games on the team's schedule. Even though the Eagles will begin the year on the road against a divisional opponent, Philadelphia will need to come away with a win against the lowly Washington Redskins, who will more than likely finish the year in last place in the NFC East.

Result: Win

Week 2: Los Angeles Rams (H)

Rams

Despite the Los Angeles Rams having to travel across the country for the Philadelphia Eagles' home-opener, the NFC West franchise will simply have too much offense for its NFC East counterpart. Expect a shootout in the “City of Brotherly Love,” though the Eagles won't be able to keep up in the end. However, this could be one of those games that the Eagles ultimately steal in order to pad the team's record.

Result: Loss

Week 3: Cincinnati Bengals (H)

The Cincinnati Bengals improved in a big way this offseason en route to most notably acquiring former LSU Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow with the No. 1 overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Even so, the Bengals are a young team with a second-year NFL head coach that will continue to rebuild in 2020-21. Although the Bengals will be a tough out week after week, the Eagles will be able win the team's first home game of the season with Cincinnati coming to town while improving to 2-1 in the process.

Result: Win

Week 4: San Francisco 49ers (A)

The San Francisco 49ers are the reigning NFC Champions and have a very good shot at returning to the Super Bowl once again this season. With such a notion coinciding with the fact that the Philadelphia Eagles will be forced to travel a few thousand miles in order to get to San Francisco, the 49ers will rout their Week 4 opponent while rolling to an easy win.

Result: Loss

Week 5: Pittsburgh Steelers (A)

The Pittsburgh Steelers encountered quite a forgettable campaign this past season, though it was mostly due to injury. Healthy once again, the Steelers are a team with a formidable offense and a scary defense while the Philadelphia Eagles will definitely need to win this game if at all possible. However, the Steelers will win a close one as Heinz Field is not the easiest place to play.

Result: Loss

Week 6: Baltimore Ravens (H)

Lamar Jackson, Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens still employee the league's reigning MVP in quarterback Lamar Jackson so don't expect this team to lose many games. With the Ravens hosting the Philadelphia Eagles as well, Baltimore wins this one big in front of the hometown fans.

Result: Loss

Week 7: New York Giants (H)

If the Philadelphia Eagles are going to compete with the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East, the team will need to come to play when it plays both the New York Giants and Washington Redskins. After three straight losses, the Eagles will bounce back at home against the Giants before hosting the Cowboys in a massive matchup just one week later.

Result: Win

Week 8: Dallas Cowboys (H)

The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys will square off not once but twice in 2020-21 while it is super difficult to beat a team twice in one season. Because the Eagles will need to take this home game against Dallas in order to keep the team's season alive, Philadelphia will be more than prepared and will find a way to take down the rival Cowboys.

Result: Win

Week 9: Bye

After back-to-back games against the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys, which will immediately follow a AFC North gauntlet, the Philadelphia Eagles' Week 9 bye week could come at the perfect time.

Week 10: New York Giants (A)

With the Philadelphia Eagles already managing to dispatch of the New York Giants just a few weeks prior to this matchup, the surging NFC East franchise will do it yet again in Week 10. The Eagles will be too much for the Giants, even if this matchup is taking place in East Rutherford.

Result: Win

Week 11: Cleveland Browns (A)

Article Continues Below

The Cleveland Browns disappointed in a big way last season despite having a slew of talented weapons at its disposal on both sides of the line of scrimmage. However, that won't be the case in 2020-21 as the Browns should be in contention for a playoff spot in the AFC. As a result, the Philadelphia Eagles will be brought back down to Earth in Week 11 after back-to-back wins over divisional opponents. This bout taking place in Cleveland doesn't help the Eagles either.

Result: Loss

Week 12: Seattle Seahawks (H)

The Seattle Seahawks will not be nearly as talented as the heralded and typically dangerous NFC West usually is this time around. With the NFC West much tougher than usual as well, the Seahawks might very well struggle in 2020-21. As a result, look for the Philadelphia Eagles to capture a win at home in Week 12. This will more than likely be a low scoring affair in Philadelphia as the Seahawks won't go quietly despite not being as good as the team typically is. Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll will have his team ready to play but so will Eagles head coach Doug Pederson, who will surely understand the importance of a home win at this point in the campaign.

Result: Win

Week 13: Green Bay Packers (A)

Green Bay Packers, 2020 season
ClutchPoints

The Green Bay Packers reached the NFC Championship Game a season ago while the historic franchise won't drop off much in 2020-21. Expect the Packers to be back in the postseason in 2020-21, whether or not the team reaches the NFC title game for a second consecutive season, which will cause Green Bay to be too much on both sides of the football for the Philadelphia Eagles when these two teams encounter one another late in the regular season.

Result: Loss

Week 14: New Orleans Saints (H)

Similarly to the aforementioned Green Bay Packers, the New Orleans Saints will once again impress the NFL landscape come next season. With future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees seemingly gearing up to bow out of the NFL in the near future, this might just be his last shot at winning a second Super Bowl title. With Brees and the Saints currently in win-now mode, New Orleans will simply overpower the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 14, even with the latter serving as the host.

Result: Loss

Week 15: Arizona Cardinals (A)

The Arizona Cardinals are about to surprise a lot of folks across the football world in 2020-21. Bolstering the team's roster in a big way this offseason, especially on offense, the Cardinals will remain in position to finish in second place in the super dangerous and well-rounded NFC West division behind only the San Francisco 49ers. Because the Philadelphia Eagles will head West to the desert for this late-season matchup, the Cardinals will surely be playing the team's best football of the season by this point — if Arizona is in fact for real.

Result: Loss

Week 16: Dallas Cowboys (A)

Cowboys, 2020 NFL seaosn

If the Philadelphia Eagles are in fact able to defeat the rival Dallas Cowboys at home earlier in the season, there is a very slim chance that the team will do so once again on the road in Texas. If the Cowboys are playing sound football under new head coach Mike McCarthy, the Eagles' season will come down to this very game. However, the talented and explosive Cowboys should be able to more than handle the Eagles, who will remain in the middle of the pack in the NFC over the course of the regular season. Because the Cowboys will probably already be ahead of the Eagles in the standings, a loss here could potentially end Philadelphia's season altogether.

Result: Loss

Week 17: Washington Redskins (H)

The Washington Redskins still won't be good come Week 17 as the Philadelphia Eagles should roll at home. With the possibility of a divisional crown in the balance depending on what the Dallas Cowboys have done throughout the season, this could be a huge game for Philadelphia, one that the Eagles will be hosting. This could quite possibly be the definition of a must-win game for the Eagles.

Result: Win

2020-21 Record: 7-9, 2nd Place in the NFC East (No Playoffs)

In the end, the Philadelphia Eagles will not be able to overcome the obstacles put before them as the rival Dallas Cowboys will narrowly win the NFC East division in 2020-21. The Eagles will surely be competitive throughout the year, but Philadelphia will not amount to anything more than a middling franchise in 2020-21.
