The sudden retirement of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has left the team with some depth issues under center. It appears Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Joshua Dobbs could be on their radar.
Dobbs is currently battling quarterback Mason Rudolph for the backup job in Pittsburgh. According to ESPN's Mike Clay, the Colts could be interested in dealing for him if Rudolph is named as the successor to quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

The Steelers have spent the last several years trying to find a promising quarterback to develop behind Roethlisberger. They used a fourth-round pick on Dobbs in the 2017 NFL Draft before spending a third-round pick on Rudolph just a year later. It seems this could be a deciding time under center in Pittsburgh.
Meanwhile, the Colts did a solid job of shoring up their depth by keeping quarterback Jacoby Brissett around. Brissett's name has long been tied to trade rumors ever since he established himself as a viable replacement in place of an injured Luck during the 2017 NFL season. It is safe to say that their patience has now paid off.
Reports out of Steelers' camp suggest that the competition is as tight as ever. The prospect of being demoted to third-string after already serving as Roethlisberger's backup would hardly be ideal for Dobbs. Despite the interest from the Colts, it appears any potential deal would largely hinder on Pittsburgh's decision.
