Chase Claypool made headlines for the wrong reasons in the Pittsburgh Steelers' Thursday Night Football matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

Chasing down a historic comeback after falling down 29-0, the Steelers had a final shot down eight in the closing minute. But Chase Claypool's ill-timed pose to celebrate a first down ate away precious seconds that could have been the difference in the game.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was asked about the sequence after the game. The longtime signal-caller deflected the opportunity to call out the wide receiver, instead pointing to head coach Mike Tomlin as the figure responsible for policing the wideout.

“It’s not really my job,” Roethlisberger said, via Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com. “To me, that goes up to Coach Tomlin. That’s what he needs to do. That’s his job as the head coach. As the quarterback, it’s my job to help manage what we do on the field and get first downs. Dealing with player issues and whatever else you want to say, that’s the coach’s job, not mine.”

Ben Roethlisberger has largely been rumored to be in his final season with the Steelers. Perhaps he didn't want to take any unnecessary baggage with him as he simply wants to enjoy his swan song season. But nevertheless, Chase Claypool probably won't be flexing his first down catches anytime soon.
