It has been quite an eventful offseason for the Pittsburgh Steelers. as a result, it seems quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is going to make sure he is with the team as much as possible.

The Steelers have undergone some significant changes to their roster this offseason. According to Will Graves of the Associated Press, Roethlisberger plans to be more active in organized team activities this year:

Ben said he plans to be around at OTAs more this year than last year in part because of new faces. Said it was tough to hear his character questioned by media, former players etc.

Roethlisberger added that it will fall on him to get Pittsburgh back to the playoffs.

“When it comes to leadership, we didn't make the playoffs last year. We didn't win our division. So I lacked in leadership because that's my job as the leader of this team is to get us to the playoffs.”

Roethlisberger's approach is certainly understandable. His fallout with wide receiver Antonio Brown dominated headlines throughout the offseason which has only grown more contentious despite his departure to the Oakland Raiders.

One of the more notable aspects of Brown's complaints was that the veteran quarterback was hardly ever held accountable for his mistakes. This raised questions about whether or not Roethlisberger is still capable of leading a team.

Pittsburgh has plenty of work to do if they hope to enjoy a potential resurgence in the 2019 NFL season. they have lost some serious firepower in recent years with the departure of Brown and running back Le'Veon Bell.

Regardless, having Roethlisberger more involved in OTAs should help bring a sense of stability early on in the offseason.
