Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Chase Claypool had a very good game on Thursday, up until the final drive when he cost his team a play and possibly two when he decided that it was best to celebrate when his team was in the hurry-up offense. The awful display of awareness gave the Steelers one less chance in the red zone and they lost the game 36-28. The play put a damper on what had been one of Claypool's best games as he had nine catches for 98 yards on the night. Claypool was not spared on social media, as he was instantly taken to task by:

Warren Sharp

Pardon my take

It is absolutely impossible to fathom the notion that Claypool knew the time on the clock and still continued to celebrate, meaning he did not know what was going on. That means that this situation is not just one him, as he needs to be mentally conditioned to be in situations like from the Steelers coaches and he also should have been reminded of it on the sideline and in the huddle.

Claypool will need to take this terrible mistake and use it as a learning moment. He cannot be so unaware of the clock that he is a liability to his entire football team moving forward. In a game that the Steelers needed to win to increase their AFC wild-card chances, Claypool's blunder may end up being significant in the long run.

Not all of this loss can be put on Chase, however, as the Steelers still had a chance to win the game at the end and rookie tight end Pat Friermuth was not able to hold onto the ball. Also, they had no business being in the game anyways after they started the game down 29-0. If Minnesota had any sort of clock management the Steelers would have stayed two scores away from them the entire second half, and Claypool's mistake would be irrelevant.
