The Pittsburgh Steelers are conducting their training camp at Heinz Field without fans being able to watch practices. And they'll be doing the same during the regular season for their first two home games.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Steelers announced that fans won't be permitted for the team's first two home games in 2020.

Due to the ongoing concerns of COVID-19, teams across the NFL are going to have differing attendance in fans. Dissimilar to other sports leagues, the NFL isn't going to impose a level playing field when it comes to fan attendance. The league likely chose to go with this route to offset some of the expected revenue losses this season.

Some teams are going to be able to operate at limited or near-full capacity during the 2020 season. As for the Steelers, they'll be unable to have fans show up to their first two home games.

Along with Pittsburgh, the Philadelphia Eagles also announced their decision on fan attendance in 2020. The Eagles, who also play their home games in Pennsylvania, won't allow fans at home contests until further notice. Provided that, both the Steelers and the Eagles could begin to allow fans if they are given the go-ahead to do so this year.

To begin the upcoming season, the Steelers are set to take on the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium. It was already announced that the Giants aren't going to have fans at home games in 2020.

After their bout with New York, Pittsburgh has two consecutive home games in Weeks 2 and 3. Given the news on Thursday, it may be quite some time before the Steelers play a game in front of fans this season.
