JuJu Smith-Schuster is an impending free agent for the Pittsburgh Steelers and his future with the organization is in doubt. While Smith-Schuster didn't rule out the possibility of returning to the Steelers, the eccentric wideout penned a heartfelt message to fans in Pittsburgh ahead of free agency.
No matter what happens this week, if I’m back or if I’m somewhere else, just know that I will never see Pittsburgh as just 4 yrs of my life, but a part of who I am. I’ll always carry that tough, blue collar spirit for the rest of my life. I LOVE YOU PITTSBURGH #412 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️ pic.twitter.com/BIJCUDNbQQ

Back in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Steelers selected Smith-Schuster in the second round out of USC. The former Trojan immediately became a viable No. 2 option alongside Antonio Brown in his rookie campaign.
But in his second year in the NFL, Smith-Schuster would post a career-best 111 receptions, 1,426 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns. However, in the past two seasons, Smith-Schuster has struggled to show that he's a definitive No. 1 wide receiver after the departure of Brown.

Ever since the end of the 2020 season, Smith-Schuster has made it known that he'd love to return to Pittsburgh this offseason. Late last month, when Zach Banner inked a new contract with the Steelers, Smith-Schuster commented on his desire to get one from the team as well.
In all likeliness, Smith-Schuster is going to garner an expensive contract in free agency with a team that has money to spend. With that in mind, Smith-Schuster is taking the time to bid farewell to fans in the Steel City if his free agency goes as expected.
