The Pittsburgh Steelers addressed the quarterback position with the 20th pick in the NFL Draft, selecting Pitt product Kenny Pickett. Pickett, who was regarded as the most pro-ready signal-caller in the draft, gets to stay home while landing in an organization with the tools to get the best out of him. The Pitt product spoke out after being selected by the Steelers in the NFL Draft, as reported by Brooke Pryor of ESPN.

After getting the NFL Draft call from the Steelers, Pickett said he's “pretty familiar with the area code.” That he is, as the 23-year-old, who grew up in Northern New Jersey, attended the University of Pittsburgh after he was heavily recruited.

While Pickett said that he had a “pretty good idea of who it was”, he said that he was still at a loss for words. It had to be a surreal feeling for Pickett to see the area code pop up on his phone and know that it was the Steelers on the line.

Pickett was a standout performer at Pitt, as he led the team to their most wins in a season in over a decade while throwing for 4,319 yards with 42 touchdowns and just seven interceptions.

Now, he'll get a chance to compete with Mitchell Trubisky, who was a free agent add, for the starting quarterback job in Pittsburgh.

Needless to say, it was an emotional night in the Pickett household.
