Throughout the 2019 NFL campaign, it was painfully obvious that the Pittsburgh Steelers were in need of offensive weapons.

Yes, Ben Roethlisberger played in just two games before going down with a season-ending elbow injury, which obviously had a tremendously negative effect, but even with a healthy Roethlisberger, the Steelers are limited at the skill positions.

As a result, owner Art Rooney II says that Pittsburgh could be targeting a wide receiver and a running back in free agency.

“We are in the process now of preparing for free agency,” Rooney said, via the Steelers' team website. “The new league year starts on March 18. There is nothing we can do between now and then other than prepare for it. We’ll be looking for opportunities if we can to add a player we think can help us, whether it’s a wide receiver or running back.”

Rooney added that he was “not sure” about quarterback, as Roethlisberger turns 38 years old next month and neither Mason Rudolph nor Devlin Hodges inspired much confidence in his stead this past season, but he did say that he was “pretty comfortable” with whom Pittsburgh currently had under center.

Chances are, the Steelers will be going into 2020 with Big Ben as their starting signal-caller, but with Roethlisberger's career winding down, they should probably be sure to spend some money on more offensive talent this March.

With James Conner struggling to stay healthy, Pittsburgh could certainly use some help in the backfield, and even if JuJu Smith-Schuster bounces back and Diontae Johnson continues to impress in 2020, the Steelers could always use another receiver.
