The Pittsburgh Steelers traded up to the 10th pick in the draft to select inside linebacker Devin Bush. In a corresponding move, the Steelers have released Jon Bostic.
According to Ed Bouchette of The Athletic, the Steelers cut Bostic, saving $1.8 million in salary. Pittsburgh signed Bostic last offseason; he lasted only one season with the organization.
The Steelers have been searching for Ryan Shazier's replacement in the last couple of years since Shazier suffered an unfortunate injury. Shazier still hopes to make a comeback in the NFL at some point, but the Steelers can't afford to wait.
In 2018, Bostic had 73 total tackles in 14 games started with the Steelers. Drafting Bush essentially pushed Jon Bostic out of a roster spot. Bush will immediately step into a starting role.

At Michigan, Bush had 172 total tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, and 11 pass deflections in three seasons with the program. The Michigan product is an athletic freak at inside linebacker and can be a very good replacement for Shazier.
At the combine, Bush ran a 4.43 40-yard dash and ranked fifth among linebackers with his 3-cone drill. His ability to make plays in space will benefit the Steelers and give them a great anchor in the middle of their defense.
The Steelers have found their longtime starter at inside linebacker, at the expense of Jon Bostic's roster spot.
