The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Terrell Edmunds with the 28th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. In his second season, Edmunds is ready to show Pittsburgh that they didn't make a mistake drafting him.

According to Albert Breer of NFL Network, Pittsburgh hopes Terrell Edmunds takes a “big step” in 2019. Edmunds was forced into action in 2018 with Morgan Burnett having injury issues.

According to Breer, the Steelers want to use Edmunds in a similar manner to how the Los Angeles Chargers use Derwin James. Although, getting similar production from Edmunds will be a tall task.

In his rookie season, Edmunds started in 15 games and was moved around just a little bit but he played most of his snaps at strong safety. Edmunds will be the strong safety again in 2019 with Sean Davis alongside him at free safety.

Last year, Edmunds totaled 78 tackles, one interception, one sack, one fumble recovery, and four deflections. Getting him to make plays in the backfield is where Edmunds can improve in year two.

In today's NFL, teams are beginning to use their strong safety as someone they utilize at different positions of the field. For instance, Derwin James and Jamal Adams are both moved around to help keep offenses guessing.

Both James and Adams are highly skilled when it comes to getting pressure on the quarterback, making plays in the running game, and playing in coverage. All of these are things that the Steelers need to see from Edmunds in his second season.

Despite the semi-quiet rookie season in 2018, Pittsburgh believes there are big things coming for Edmunds and the Steelers defense in 2019.
