Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger played in just two games this past season due to an elbow injury, and heading into 2020, he is 38 years old.
As a result, the Steelers really need to think about their future at quarterback, especially considering that Mason Rudolph did not exactly inspire much confidence when filling in for Roethlisberger in 2019.
Not surprisingly, Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert is not ruling out taking a quarterback in this week's NFL Draft:
“If any pick makes sense at any time, then of course we’ll make those picks,” Colbert said on Monday, according to Chris Adamski of The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Pittsburgh does not own any first-round picks, so it will either have to get creative in a trade or settle for a signal-caller in the later rounds, but Colbert sees potential in the group of quarterbacks in this draft class:

“We evaluate the whole board by position, to properly (rank) it,” Colbert said. “So, we have a good feel for these guys. And there are several players in the group (of draft-eligible quarterbacks) who are going to be future starters, possible Pro Bowlers, and there’s some nice backups.”
Colbert added that “you feel good” about Roethlisberger coming back but that the club “will be prepared for (a potential pick at) any position regardless of who we have on or current team.”
Pittsburgh went just 8-8 this past season, missing the playoffs for the second straight year.
It remains to be seen how much Roethlisberger has left in the tank, but even if he does have a strong 2020, you have to figure that his time is running out.
