Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Ryan Switzer was traded twice last season, and that was enough to make him almost quit football. Switzer talking about the trade admits it hurts that two teams decided they didn't want him anymore and made him think about his place in the NFL.
A talk with Mike Tomlin who told him to get ready to play a lot because the team needed him was enough to change his attitude on the game.

“Now, I am thinking I am just going to come here and catch some punts and some kicks and be kind of an afterthought,” Switzer said. “It was like ‘Wow!’ He didn’t care where I came from and what they thought of me, and he puts me out there Week One against Cleveland [for seven offensive snaps] because he has trust in me. . . .
People trusting in him has always been a big deal for Switzer, and that meant he was now ready to run through a brick wall and give it his all for his new coach.
Switzer's primary role last year was still on returning kicks and punts, but he also hauled in 36 catches for 253 yards and a touchdown. This season the hope is that he can even be more of a threat in the passing game and earn some more of his coaches trust.
