The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently playing with their third-string quarterback Devlin Hodges, but that could soon change. Mason Rudolph is “eyeing” a Week 8 return to the lineup, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
Steelers QB Mason Rudolph is eyeing a Week 8 return to the lineup, per source, planning to be cleared from concussion protocol as team comes off bye and prepares for the Dolphins on Monday Night Football, assuming no unexpected setbacks.

A hard hit during the Steelers' 26-32 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5 caused Rudolph to enter the NFL's concussion protocol. He was knocked unconscious following the hit and a scary sight unfolded as a result.

The scene following the hit that left Rudolph unconscious was concerning for his teammates. Steelers linebackers Bud Dupree recalled Rudolph lying ‘lifeless' on the field.
“When you see somebody lying lifeless like that it kind of strikes a bell,” Bud Dupree said, via Associated Press. “Any human being that cares about somebody in that type of situation will feel a certain way. … When something like that happens, it makes a trigger go off in your brain and you've got to control yourself.”
The concussion that Rudolph suffered against the Ravens ultimately caused him to be sidelined for the Steelers' 24-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. Hodges recorded 132 passing yards along with one touchdown and one interception as the interim starter.
Rudolph took over the starting quarterback duties following a season-ending elbow injury to Ben Roethlisberger on Sept. 15 against the Seattle Seahawks.
In four appearances, Rudolph has completed 63 of his 94 passing attempts resulting in a 67 percent completion percentage. His completions have resulted in 646 yards, seven touchdowns, and two interceptions.
The Steelers will face the Miami Dolphins during Week 7 with Rudolph remaining on the sidelines. His potential return in Week 8 would come against the Indianapolis Colts.
