The Oakland Raiders have shaken things up in the Bay Area by making a drastic change at head coach. The three-time Super Bowl champions have brought in Jon Gruden on a 10-year deal with Mark Davis and company hoping to take advantage of his talented young roster led by quarterback Derek Carr.

With Gruden now at the helm for the long-term, the team is focused on getting back on track immediately while developing Carr as the team's franchise quarterback. New offensive coordinator Greg Olson recently talked about what the Raiders will be focusing on moving forward, and it appears it'll all be about Carr, via Levi Damien of Silver And Black Pride.

“You’re always looking at the surrounding pieces around the quarterback,” Olson added. “You want to build around that quarterback and I think that that’s the other thing, again, I think with the hiring of a head coach like Jon Gruden, everything we do in this building is going to be about the development of Derek Carr. The way we script practices, the way we are doing drills, everything that we do is all about the development of the quarterback. That will really speed the development of Derek.”

After earning Pro Bowl honors in the two seasons before the 2017 campaign, Carr struggled to get back to form as he went from a legitimate NFL MVP candidate to a quarterback that couldn't lead his team back into the playoffs for a second consecutive season.

Last season, Carr put the Raiders back on the map by ending the playoff drought in Oakland and providing a glimpse of a potentially bright future. The Fresno State product regressed this season and will be under pressure to turn things back around in 2018.

Carr will have no shortage of help in his development with Gruden and Olson focusing on turning him into one of the league's elite players at the position. Although Carr had a forgettable year in 2017, he'll be given all the tools to succeed next season with Gruden and company potentially upgrading the offense in every way possible.

In 15 games this season, Carr finished with 3,496 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
