Given that the Arizona Cardinals traded up to take quarterback Josh Rosen with the 10th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, you would have thought they would go in a direction other than signal-caller with the No. 1 selection in 2019.

However, the Cardinals fell in love with Oklahoma's Kyler Murray, taking him first overall and trading Rosen to the Miami Dolphins in the process.

But if Arizona didn't take Murray, Ohio State defensive lineman Nick Bosa surely would have been a possible option, as he wound up going to the San Francisco 49ers at No. 2.

Now, Bosa is on a 7-0 team that boasts an elite defense, and he is thrilled that things worked out the way they did back in April.

“I was buying into it,” Bosa said of the 49ers' 3-4 defense, according to Matt Barrows of The Athletic. “There’s good things that you can do with it, and I’m sure I would have gotten into it in time. But I think for my full potential to be reached, I think I’m in the right place, in the right defense.”

Bosa has been a huge part of San Francisco's defensive resurgence.

The rookie has racked up 20 tackles, seven sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery through seven games, as the Niners have ascended to the No. 1-ranked defense in the NFL.

The 22-year-old spent three seasons at Ohio State, but he played just three games during his junior campaign due to core muscle surgery.

The 49ers will take on the Cardinals on Thursday night.
