The Tennessee Titans didn't have a good year last season as they finished in last place in the AFC South. The Titans went 6-11, and they made a lot of changes this offseason to try to make sure that this next season is better. One of those changes is a new head coach as Brian Callahan is now leading the way in Tennessee. Last year wasn't great, but Titans tight end Chig Okonkwo feels like there is a lot of reason for optimism.
Chig Okonkwo hasn't been in the NFL for very long as he has only played two seasons for the Titans, and both of those seasons have been solid. He is hoping for another good year this upcoming season, and he feels like there is a lot of potential for his team as a whole.
“A fresh start is always good, especially when you are coming off losing a lot,” Okonkwo said, according to an article from the team website. “The building, the vibes are immaculate right now. They are great. The future is exciting right now. I feel like guys are more relaxed now, in the building. Guys are coming in and they're not as tense, not as stressed out. And it allows people to be a lot more free in the locker room, a lot more free on the field.”
Chig Okonkwo has made changes to his body this offseason
Chig Okonkwo has had a couple good years in the NFL, but he wanted to make some changes this offseason. He wants his body to be at its best all the time, and he has worked on making that possible.
“I feel like I maximized the potential I had in my body, and if I wanted to get better, I had to change the structure of how I move and stuff,” Okonkwo said. “(I feel) a big difference, even the way I feel, my body. I feel a lot better when I move. After a long day of moving, I don't feel as sore.”
As for the entire tight end room, watch out for some more big plays. Chig Okonkwo noted that they might try open things up a bit.
“I think more down the field, attacking stuff, I would say,” Okonkwo said. “Using our speed to get those balls down the field. A lot of stuff has been shorter stuff in the past. I think we're going to be able to open up a lot more things. It is very exciting when you see the stuff we're bringing in. It feels like we're going to be relying a lot on the pass, and that is going to be a big part of my game, too. So, I am very excited for that. I am very excited to have those guys on the outside, and get a lot of the attention, and then make plays on the inside.”
There is reason to be excited for next season if you're a Titans fan. The team is working hard to make the changes that are necessary this offseason.
