Heading into the season finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Tennessee Titans will have their playoff hopes hanging in the balance.
However, the Titans will not have one of their key offensive weapons available as Pro Bowl running back DeMarco Murray has been ruled out for the contest, according to Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.
Article Continues BelowTennessee Titans running back DeMarco Murray (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team announced Friday. Derrick Henry will start.
There had been reports that Murray was hoping to play through a third-degree MCL tear despite not practicing all this week, but the Titans have decided to keep him off the field. He had suffered the injury against the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday.
Following a bounce back 2016 season, Murray has struggled this year to produce at an elite level currently holding a career-low 659 rushing yards on just 3.6 yards per carry in 15 games played. He has just one 100 rushing yard performance this season while failing to crack 70 yards in every other game.
In his absence, second-year running back Derrick Henry expected to draw the bulk of the carries against the Jaguars. Henry has had success against the Jaguars this season rushing for 92 yards on 14 carries with a touchdown in the Titans' 37-16 win in Week 2.
