Since they were eliminated from the playoffs in the divisional round against the New England Patriots, the Tennessee Titans organization has undergone major changes to their coaching staff, the latest of which is now bringing back defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau.

With the introduction of former Houston Texans defensive coordinator Mike Varbel as the team's next head coach, the Titans are not expected to bring back LeBeau for the 2018 season, according to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

According to multiple reports, it won’t include Dick LeBeau. LeBeau was the team’s defensive coordinator for the last two seasons, but it’s no great surprise that the Titans are moving on given Vrabel’s own defensive background.

As the reports states, this decision shouldn't come as much of a shock given that Vrabel has a background in coaching defense. This likely means that he will handle much of that responsibility with the Titans; whoever they hire for the position will have to be comfortable with that being the case.

There was an indication that the 80-year-old would likely lean toward retiring if the Titans were to let him go. LeBeau has been linked to the NFL for the last 59 years as both a player and coach. He began his lengthy coaching career in the 1973 season, eventually winning a pair of Super Bowl titles as the Pittsburgh Steelers' defensive coordinator in the 2000s.

LeBeau also put together a Hall of Fame career with the Detroit Lions, recording 62 interceptions to help him earn his induction back in 2010. He joined Tennessee in 2015 as the assistant head coach/defense before being named the defensive coordinator ahead of the 2016 season. The Titans finished the 2017 campaign 13th overall and 17th in scoring.

His departure now places the void on Vrabel, who must fill offensive and defensive coordinator vacancies over the next few weeks.
