The Washington Football Team elected to bench quarterback Dwayne Haskins earlier this season in favor of Kyle Allen. Even though the situation for Haskins looks bleak in Washington, Ron Rivera claims that the sophomore QB is ‘not done' in our nation's capital.

“It’s funny, I benched the guy and it’s like everybody thinks his career is over here in Washington. It’s not. There’s potential, there’s opportunity. The kid has an NFL arm, it’s just a matter of him developing,” Rivera told Rich Eisen.

Coming into the season, everyone knew that Haskins wasn't going to have a long leash as the quarterback in Washington. Haskins wasn't drafted by Rivera and the team traded for Allen in case things went awry with the second-year quarterback.

And when Haskins struggled to begin the season, Rivera didn't hesitate to bench the young signal-caller for Allen. Since the decision occurred, many people believe Haskins will be traded from Washington soon. At the least, media pundits and fans alike believe Haskins' career in Washington is over.

Contrary to what most believe, Rivera isn't ready to give up on Haskins just yet. Rivera pointed out that people forget Haskins didn't have much experience in college at Ohio State, starting in just 12 games before being selected in the first round.

“Everybody forgets he played 12 games of college football and then last year he really didn’t get into the swing of things until the end of the year,” Rivera said. “I did everything I could to give him 11 weeks as the No. 1 [quarterback].”

There's no doubt that Dwayne Haskins is in a less-than-ideal situation as he continues to hold a clipboard after starting in only 11 games in the NFL.
