Why The Bruins Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Boston Bruins have not exactly been playing up to par with a 5-5 record in their last 10 games, but they're still a very dangerous team that's performing at a high level. However, as dangerous as this Bruins team is, they don't put the puck in the net against elite goaltending, only averaging 3.1 goals per game this season. Their defense is one of the best in the league though, with big thanks to goaltenders Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark, who have split reps this season. Unfortunately, Ullmark is out with an injury, so Swayman will get the start between the pipes tonight. He's allowing 2.34 goals against per game with a .917 save percentage on the season. He'll look to shut down a tough Blues offense tonight.

Why The Blues Can Cover The Spread/Win

The St. Louis Blues are heating up just at the perfect time as the season begins to wind down and playoffs are about to begin. Similar to the Bruins, the Blues are an exceptional offensive team but thrive in different areas that the Bruins. The Blues don't have a particularly fast pace of play, a weird judgment for a hockey team, I know, but they play a lot of patient hockey – which is fantastic if done properly. Because of that, the Blues don't generate as many high-danger chances, yet they still score 3.68 goals per game. Defending the home crease for the Blues tonight will likely be Ville Husso, who has clearly taken over the starting spot. He's averaging 2.44 goals against with a .923 save percentage on the year. He'll look to shut down the Bruins tonight and continue their momentum heading into the playoffs.

Final Bruins-Blues Prediction & Pick

This game is a weird one where it can either be a shootout with tons of scoring, or a battle of the goaltenders to keep it super low-scoring. With that said, I'd like to see the former, but in the chance that it becomes the latter, I'm going to take the Blues on home ice tonight. They're absolutely on fire right now and I don't see them losing here tonight, especially in their own barn. Give me the Blues Moneyline.
