Ahh, the ever so glorious game seven is upon us, and we're still only in the first round as the Carolina Hurricanes host the Boston Bruins. This series has truly been a home team series as the winner of each game was in their own building. Can the Hurricanes keep that trend going for tonight? It’s time to continue our NHL odds series with a Bruins-Hurricanes prediction and pick.

Why The Bruins Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Boston Bruins tied up the series with a much-needed win in their last outing. They go back on the road again tonight though as game seven won't be easy. The Bruins have also been swapping goalies this series, starting Linus Ullmark for games one and two before putting in Jeremy Swayman for the rest of the series so far. We can expect to see Swayman in the net once again for an important game seven as he is representing a .913 save percentage throughout his four games played in the playoffs so far. The Bruins need to keep their offense rolling, but their defense needs to step up way more and stop the Canes from even getting shots off. As long as Swayman can stop pucks, it shouldn't really matter how many shots the Canes can get off tonight.

Why The Hurricanes Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Carolina Hurricanes have really stepped up to the plate with Antti Raanta in their net for this series as he has easily been the difference-maker in this series. It certainly helps when Carolina's defense has limited Boston's offense all series long. Now that we're in game seven, the Canes need to stay on track and get on the board early enough to make the Bruins play from behind. The Canes don't get enough credit for their offense as they don't really have that superstar talent on their team, but their first line has been putting up goals, just not enough. The home crowd will be on their side tonight as they possess a home-ice advantage, and Raanta will get the start between the pipes once again, as he is sporting a .926 save percentage throughout the playoffs so far.

Final Bruins-Hurricanes Prediction & Pick

Both of these teams won their respected home games and if the trend were to stay on brand, the Canes should be getting another win tonight. With that said, it's an absolute con flip on who's going to win this game and series. To be honest, I kind of like the Bruins here. Their only issue is defense, which is countered by a good, but not great, offense for the Canes. Each team's weaknesses are countered by the other teams' strengths, and it's been a great series so far, to say the least. In terms of value, I'm going to take the dog, just because we're not only trying to win money, but we want the Bruins to advance as well.
