After struggling mightily against their non-conference schedule, the North Carolina A&T Aggies made a statement against the Campbell Fighting Camels in their CAA opener. The Aggies had won just two games prior, including close wins over Texas Southern in the Chris Paul HBCU Challenge Tournament and a three-point victory over Coastal Carolina. North Carolina A&T came off a four-game road trip and faced Campbell at home after dropping their most recent game to George Mason, 94-69.

Based strictly off team records, North Carolina A&T pulled off an unlikely upset. Campbell came into the game 6-7 on the year, while the Aggies were 2-11. The two teams were evenly matched at the start of the first half. The lead changed six times in the first six minutes before Campbell began to create some distance. They started an 8-0 run to take a 20-13 advantage. In response, the Aggie defense held the Camels to just five points for the remaining 12 minutes of the half. They outscored Campbell 20-5, largely thanks to Jalal Mckie. Mckie accounted for 10 of those 20 points; he scored seven of them himself, and dished an assist to teammate Landon Glasper for a three-pointer.

The Aggies began the second half with a 33-25 lead over the Camels. They claimed their first double-digit lead of the game following an opening three-pointer from Camian Shell. Campbell cut the deficit to single digits a few times at the start of the half, but the lead kept ballooning. In the middle of the half, North Carolina A&T went on a 12-0 run, widening the margin to 21 points. Campbell cut the lead to 15 with a little over five minutes to go, but the Aggies immediately responded with a dagger three-pointer. They eventually won the game 76-62.

Despite a 20-point double-double from Anthony Dell'Orso, the Campbell Fighting Camels could not grab the victory. Dell'Orso stuffed the stat sheet with 24 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, one block, and one steal. Laurynas Vaistaras and Jasin Sinani both drained two triples and made all of their free throws. In fact, as a team, Campbell went 18-19 from the stripe. Vaistaras finished with 13 points and three steals, while Sinani had 10 points and three rebounds.

Jalal McKie did not score after his short outburst in the first half, but his teammates more than stepped up. Landon Glasper made four three-pointers and finished with 19 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Camian Shell came right behind him with 18 points and five assists. Jason Murphy posted a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds, along with three blocks.
